Scatter Terrain!

Today's Tinker is a compilation of several pieces I've been working on. This started as a commission, but as I was given artistic license, I made sure to create molds of 5 of them so I could easily reproduce them. The main design elements were they retain a fantasy feel, be ruined/ruins and that 3 pieces also include elevation. The elevation was the main obstacle to honor, of course.

These are the ~5, all painted.

I started this project back in May or early June.

I finished the molds in late june/early july and it was delivered in July.

The only piece that doesn't have a mold perse is the large cavern piece with the 4 fieldstone towers on them. That was cobbled together from tiles and pieces Ive had. It turned out fantastic and I could easily see myself doing that on request again.

The Ruined Raised Temple w Columns

The masterpiece mold that came out of this excercise is the 11x11" mold that makes the raised ruined platform with ruined columns. It's cast in 4 molds, the base, stairs and the columns, and the top platform. They all get glued together and then painted. I've added ballast as detrius to the overall piece as a finishing element. One of the inportant design elements of this piece was that it have elevation. <grin> Tactical players who enjoy the use of ranged units will enjoy this piece.

The Fieldstone Ruined Half Walls

One of the smaller pieces, the fieldstone corner w half walls, was a very easy design, mold and cast. It's a very quick piece to paint and finish. I look forward to seeing how the community recieves it. I designed this as smaller scatter terrain, that provides cover and has ease of entry and exit for medium and small units.

Wood Floor with Broken Walls

The other small piece, I designed in one mold. It includes the pieces for the walla, the floor and ruined door. The wall is stone rubble. I added a bombed out hole in the floor for style points.

2 Story Ruined Rubble on Cavern Tiles

I tackled the requirement of elevation with two pieces that are 2 storys. This one has stone rubble walls. It's also designed with beams for the second floor to rest on. The outside wall has shutters in disrepair, and the floor contians fragments of a broken door. I see after reviewing the loaded gallery of pics that there is only one image of this, so I'll fix that as well. The piece deserves it. The second story 'window' section that's really just a hole in the wall was particularly pleasing in retrospect.

2 Story Wood and Stucco Ruins

The last piece I designed includes two 7" wide floors for larger units. It's two large board wood floors. I individually cut the edges of the floor to be particularly ragged. The walls I did as stucco, for no particular reason. I included ruined window frames, as partials as well on the second floor. The stucco is always a good ruined wall piece. Easy to paint and weather. It takes a single pour of the 2 molds for the pieces. It's very easy.
